The teenager from North Alabama, Jaxon Bishop took on a full time 2022 Modifieds of MAYHEM Tour schedule. Jaxon competed in all seven MOM Tour events between 5 Flags Speedway, Montgomery Motor Speedway, Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway, and Crisp Motorsports Park.
Jaxon attempted a double duty to kick the year off at the Alabama 200 at Montgomery Motor Speedway before having car troubles in the PLM. Bishop started the year off strong with a 5th place finish in the Hunt for the BEAR 59 at one of the biggest Alabama 200’s ever. He followed a strong finish in Montgomery with his first ever Modifieds of Mayhem Tour win at Crisp Motorsports Park. Bishop traveled South and brought home a 6th place finish in the first of 2 races in Pensacola at 5 Flags Speedway. Following 3 straight top 6’s, a podium finish at the historic Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway with a third place finish for the 2 team of Jaxon Bishop. After a 12th place finish at 5 Flags Speedway Jaxon finished 3rd at Montgomery Motor Speedway, his third podium of the year. Bishop finished the year off at the 55th Annual Snowball Derby with a 4th place finish, claiming the 2022 Modifieds of Mayhem Tour Championship.
Q: Coming off of a 2022 Modifieds of Mayhem Tour Championship, what are your expectations for 2023?
A: We just plan to go compete and win races. That is our goal this year. We struggled with engine problems and bad luck all year and just want to put together a solid year and race each race to win.
Q: What are your 2023 plans?
A: We plan to run as many races as we can with our Modified, Late models, and Micro Sprints! We will kick the year off at the 59th Annual Alabama 200 on March 4th and Hunt for the Bear!
Q: How has running the Modifieds of Mayhem Tour helped you so far, and how do you look to take the experience from it and continue to progress forward?
A: Going to different places and racing on bigger tracks has been huge for us. Running on bigger tracks means there is a lot more give and take and knowing when to ride and to accelerate again is tough, but it has definitely been worth the experience!
Q: What has been the most exciting part of participating in the Modifieds of Mayhem Tour?
A: I think the coolest part of going and racing in the Modifieds of Mayhem Tour is racing with really talented guys who have won about everything that there is to win, whether it’s in Super Late Models, Pro Late Models, or Modifieds.
Q: What race are you looking forward to most in 2023? What is one race that you hope to be victorious in?
A: Man, I have always wanted to win a Guitar at Nashville! Whether it is in a Pro Late Model or a Modified, that one is circled on my list. I felt like we were really close last year but had some motor problems during the race. We hope to get it this year!
Q: How do you plan to make the 2023 season even better than the 2022 season?
A: Just keep building our program! It takes time to build up everything that you need to compete and win races! We will keep trucking along and learning as much as we can, and look to build on it at the track in 2023!
