Gulf Coast Double Header Recap

Last week, the tour headed to the Gulf Coast for a double-header weekend, starting on Friday night at 5 Flags Speedway, accompanied by the Southern Super Series, then headed to Mobile International Speedway on Saturday night. Going into the weekend, we had 2 $250 Rogers-Dabbs Performance CT525 Fast Time Pole Awards AND a $500 Thomas Recycling Best Average Finish Bonus up for grabs!

On Friday night, we unloaded 20 fast modifieds in Pensacola, FL. Clearwater, FL’s #2 Brad Bowman was fastest in practice leading up to qualifying at 5 Flags Speedway. Qualifying was a different story – it was #42 Richie Smith who won the Rogers-Dabbs Performance CT525 Fast Time Pole Award, followed by #81 Jeremy Williams and then Bowman in 3rd.

2nd and 3rd place qualifiers, Bowman and Williams, after showing speed all day, both had mechanical problems. After taking the lead early, Richie Smith led all 50 laps and parked it in Victory Lane.

“I don’t know how many more years I can drive them. I have to take advantage of these years, for sure,” the dominant driver of the #42 said in Victory Lane.

2 previous MOM tour winners, #96 Jared Maupin and #57 Timothy Moore, rounded out the podium on night 1, hunting for the Thomas Recycling Best Average Finish Bonus heading into night 2.
