Montgomery, Alabama (March 8, 2026) — Kaden Honeycutt (no. 30) was nearly unstoppable during the Hunt for the Bear 62, although several incidents further back in the field kept him honest on multiple restarts and short runs.
The second event of the year for the Rogers-Dabbs Performance Parts Modifieds of Mayhem Tour Powered by Chevrolet Performance found the tour returning to its home base, Montgomery Motor Speedway. The whole weekend saw Honeycutt reside at the top of the charts, with the Snowball Derby champion and current NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series star laying down several fast lap times, even claiming the fast qualifier award.
The redraw proved to be a momentary setback for Honeycutt, who methodically worked his way through the field, taking the lead away on Lap 24. From that moment onward, the Texas native would be in control of the field, although things weren’t as straightforward for those further back in the pack.
Jeremy Williams (no. 81), Derrick Griffin (no. 95), Tim Moore (no. 57), Jeff Letson (no. 60), and Jared Maupin (no. 96), in addition to others, were all in contention for top-five finishing positions, but were caught up in one incident or another throughout the course of the race.
For Honeycutt, the repeated caution periods meant that he was left having to execute on every restart, and he did just that, eventually pulling away from the field and taking home a coveted bear trophy in the Hunt for the Bear 62.
“I just want to thank John [Heil], BMF Race Cars, everyone that supports our deal, man,” said Honeycutt in victory lane. “They’ve done a great job. Thanks to all my crew, they did a great job all weekend. It was a hot one, but yeah, we’ve been really good with this thing. I just want to thank John for the privilege of driving, man.”
Kevin Peel (no. 18), who won the Hunt for the Bear event last season, managed to evade and avoid a lot of the calamity to finish in the runner-up position.
“We worked on this thing all week and got it a lot better,” said Peel post-race. “I think I would have been better if we had just went green. The car worked better, and then I about spun it out being stupid, trying to get in the gas a little bit too hard coming off Turn 4.”
Rounding out the podium in third position was Tim Moore, who was involved in an incident on one particular restart in which he and Jeff Letson made serious contact in Turn 1. The night was an emotional one for Moore and company.
“Someone was looking over me tonight. I lost my dad a week and a half ago. This one’s for him,” said Moore. “He’s been to every race except a couple of them in my 30 years of racing. It’s just not the same. We’re racing for him, and he’s looking out for me, I guess. After that first wreck, I thought we were done, and the guys were like, no, everything’s straight. I came in, and they checked everything over. Then we went back out. I don’t know what happened coming off Turn 2, but they all stacked up, and I tried to miss it and got involved in it.”
The next event for the Rogers-Dabbs Performance Parts Modifieds of Mayhem Tour Powered by Chevrolet Performance will be the Rumble by the River 50 at Montgomery Motor Speedway on Saturday, April 18th.
