August 11, 2025 Pensacola, FL — A new car and a familiar track allowed Jaxon Bishop to sail smoothly to victory lane on Friday Night in the Modifieds of Mayhem “Battle at the Beach” at Five Flags Speedway.

The Toney, Alabama native won the pole, but started further back in the field by virtue of the positional redraw. Despite the early obstacles, Bishop quickly worked through the field en route to the lead before the halfway point of the 50-lap feature event.

“We were good. Brand new race car, kind of a one off deal. Did a bunch of crazy stuff, and I’m hoping that we can just repeat it for the [Snowball] Derby,” said Bishop. “We’ll probably put it up until the Derby and focus on the Pro [Late Model] for the Snowflake.”

For Bishop, the aero dependency at Five Flags Speedway and the sometimes chaotic nature of the Modifieds of Mayhem tour meant that a quick dash to the front was crucial for his night.

“At this place, a lot of people don’t talk about it but these cars are so aero-dependent. Being in clean air makes a big deal here. I wanted to get in clean air and manage the race as best I could. I couldn’t run hard at the end because we were in all traffic the whole time.”

Behind Bishop, Brad Bowman capitalized to finish in second place. A last lap incident involving a lapped car and Jeremy Williams resulted in Williams spinning in Turns 1 and 2, allowing Bowman to move into second.

Bubba VanDevender initially led the field early on in the night, but had to settle for a third place result, rounding out the podium. Matthew Martin scored fourth with Kevin Peel finishing fifth.

The Modifieds of Mayhem will return on Saturday, September 13th at Montgomery Motor Speedway for the Fall Brawl 50.
