Irvington, Alabama (June 28, 2026) — Saturday night’s conclusion of the Gulf Coast Doubleheader at Mobile International Speedway was full of emotion for the 2015 Rogers-Dabbs Performance Parts Modifieds of Mayhem Tour champion, Donnie Hamrac (no. 8).

The Alabama racer was fast in practice earlier in the afternoon, but faced some setbacks once qualifying was concluded. With the field of six cars electing to do a full-field redraw, CT525 Fast Qualifer Derrick Griffin (no. 95) would draw a three in the invert, and Hamrac would round out the field by drawing a six despie being the second-fastest qualifier.

Modifieds of Mayhem Qualifying Results

  1. #95 Derrick Griffin – 18.358 seconds
  2. #8 Donnie Hamrac – 18.584 seconds
  3. #18 Kevin Peel – 18.745 seconds
  4. #14x Tre Huff – 18.767 seconds
  5. #62 Buddy Anderson – 18.874 seconds
  6. #96 Jared Maupin – 18.877 seconds

With Hamrac starting at the rear of the field, he had some work to do on his way to the winner’s circle, but it all worked out for his no. 8 machine in the end. A battle for the lead formed between Griffin and Jared Maupin (no. 96), with Maupin starting to reel in Griffin before suffering a mechanical issue and retiring early. Hamrac then started his pursuit of Griffin, and eventually took the lead after Griffin also suffered a mechanical problem later in the race.

Hamrac would set sail en route to Modifieds of Mayhem victory lane, a place he hadn’t visited in seven years. Before Saturday night, Hamrac’s last win with the tour came in the 2019 season opener at Montgomery Motor Speedway. The triumph came with several emotions for Hamrac, who expressed that the win could stand as the last of his career.

“This is huge,” said Hamrac post-race. “I’m 53 years old, my career’s coming to an end, so this may be the last one. We’re gonna celebrate it and cherish it.”

“I’ve got to thank all my sponsors, man. [I have to thank] David Jones for supplying us with everything. If it wasn’t for him, we wouldn’t do any of this. Universal Precast, Alabama Pipe Supply, BMF Chassis. I’ve got to thank my crew too. We were short-handed today. We’ve been struggling just a little bit with this car, but today we hit on something and it really, really worked. We turned the program around today.”

Behind Hamrac, Baileyton, Al. driver Buddy Anderson (no. 62) came home in the runner-up position. Kevin Peel (no. 18) rallied back from an incident that sidelined him on Friday night at Five Flags Speedway to round out the podium in third.

Tre Huff and Derrick Griffin completed the top five, with Jared Maupin rounding out the field in sixth.
