Derrick Griffin’s Near-Perfect Day at the Beach Ball 50

Pensacola, Florida (May 16, 2026) — The Rogers-Dabbs Performance Parts Modifieds of Mayhem Tour powered by Chevrolet Performance returned to the Sunshine State for the Beach Ball 50 at Five Flags Speedway on Friday night.

The day was a near-perfect showing for Pensacola’s Derrick Griffin (no. 95), the Modifieds of Mayhem points leader. With the exception of the afternoon’s first practice session and the redraw, Griffin led the way and topped the charts in everything he could, including the feature event itself.

Griffin drew a 4 for the redraw, but it didn’t take long for the CT525 Pole Award winner to propel to the front of the field. After taking the lead from Texas native Jared Maupin (no. 96) on Lap 9, Griffin wouldn’t look back for the rest of the 50-lap feature, scoring a dominant victory.

An interesting statline is that the victory was only Griffin’s second win with the series, with his first victory coming at the same track back in 2020. The win also gave Griffin his first podium with the tour in 2026.

“All we did was put it back how it’s been the last five races or so,” said Griffin in victory lane. “We’ve just been getting kicked in the teeth with tires and anything that could go wrong, that had nothing to do with us, would go wrong. We worked on a little bit of everything. We’ve got a Late Model for Brian Cagle last week, a Crown Vic for J.P. Whibbs and this thing. I’ve been really busy in the last week.”

Behind Griffin, Cody Stickler (no. 42) came home in the runner-up position, with Jared Maupin rounding out the podium in third. Kevin Peel (no. 18) and Jeremy Williams (no. 81) completed the top five.

The Modifieds of Mayhem Tour returns to action with the Gulf Coast Doubleheader on June 26th and 27th. The weekend will kick off on Friday, June 26th at Five Flags Speedway and wrap up at nearby Mobile International Speedway on Saturday, June 27th.
